About Lorin Prentice

Lorin Prentice

Lorin developed rheumatoid arthritis in the early 1960’s, few months after the birth of her fourth child. After taking part in a self-management course, she realised that having a chronic and debilitating condition gave her a new perspective on the world. She became determined to raise awareness of the significance of muscle, bone or joint conditions with the wider community.

Through her work with the media and in her public speaking roles, Lorin gained enormous joy. Her death in 1997 was sudden and unexpected, but her spirit and work lives on in the Lorin Prentice Memorial Award.
