Common Shoulder Problems

The shoulder complex has the greatest range of movement in the body and is comprised of a number of joints. Shoulder pain is a common and potentially disabling musculoskeletal condition and may result from trauma, degenerative or inflammatory processes. The most common causes of shoulder pain are reported to be rotator cuff disorders and glenohumeral disease, including adhesive capsulitis and acromioclavicular joint disorders. Management of shoulder pain is complex and can involve a number of strategies including physiotherapy, pharmacology and surgery. This webinar will outline common shoulder problems and discuss current management approaches.

Our presenter: Dr Sarah Walmsley is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist with over 30 years’ experience in both the clinical and academic settings. She has an interest in diagnosis and management of shoulder disorders and has undertaken research in the early diagnosis of adhesive capsulitis. She is currently a lecturer at The University of Newcastle, Australia as well as a clinician working in a specialised upper limb practice. Sarah has published in peer reviewed journals and presented her research findings at both national and international conferences.
